Lichia OS exists due to a simple reason: I use Linux as my day to day Operating System. It is an experiment to share what I've achieved and what I believe to be the pinnacle of a Linux OS.

Every 6 months or so (K)Ubuntu has a new Iteration and I'm compelled to install and try the new features. Ubuntu's community is great and it's repositories and ppa system is unmatched along any other Linux Distro.

For the last 3 or 4 iterations I got less and less satisfied with the direction that Ubuntu's Unity and GNOME (the graphic interface it uses) took. I changed to Kubuntu and was very satisfied with its guidelines. But it takes a lot of effort to make the standard Kubuntu install into something ready for any task and pleasant to the eyes.

To close up, as I said, this is an experiment. I'm bundling a lot of software, not all of it is open source. But I don't believe I'm doing anything illegal here. I'm not changing anything and all the credits and licences are unchanged and inside the final product, which is in turn, completely devoid of profit intentions. The only thing I charge for is the service of further customization upon request. But the product, the OS, is and always be free.
